SPECIAL TOPIC ON IMPLEMENTATION

Learning by Doing is one of the spirits EECS emphasizes. The Special Topic courses will teach students the research methods, implementation process, and problem-solving abilities needed for future study or work fields.

RULES

1. Qualification: Junior and senior students.
2. Special Topics on Implementation (I) and (II) should be completed in consecutive semesters.
3. One must follow the rules announced by the course offering departments.
4. If your advisor is from the CS Department, please follow the advisor's instructions to choose the course codes offered by either the CS or EECS department.

5. Since Special Topic II is a sequential course, students must select Special Topic II from the same department as Special Topic I.

STEPS

These courses are designed for junior and senior students. Students will find completing the fundamental and required elective courses beneficial before taking Special Topic on Implementation. Solid knowledge will help complete more advanced studies that require independent thinking skills, such as a special topic course. 


STEP 1. Decide a topic and an advisor

EE holds an information session every semester, but you are welcome to explore different topics with the desired EE professors before deciding.

CS will post the updated topics and information on the board of undergraduate announcements. Please check out the posts constantly and follow the rules accordingly.  


 

 


STEP 2. Apply

Both registration and course selection are required.

EE Implementation (EE3900/ EE3910) CS Implementation (CS3901/ CS3902)

A two-step Application is required:

1. Registration through the EE Special Topic Application system is required. 

2. Select the course in the Academic Information System.

The EE Special Topic Application System presents all information regarding EE3900/3910, including instruction, procedure, grading, deadlines, FAQ, and competition. Please follow the instructions very carefully.

The application deadline is usually by the end of the second-course selection period of each semester.

Application is required.

1. Hand in the signed document to the Delta R501 in person. 

2. An additional step is required to add the course to the Academic Information System. Please read About CS System Implementation, watch out for the deadline in the announcement, and follow the instructions very carefully.

EECS Implementation (EE3900/ EECS3910)

EECS3900 Special Topic on Implementation I
Application is required.

Deadline: By the end of the third course selection period.

Step1. Fill in the EECS3900 Advisor Agreement and Consensus Form here
Step2. Upload and submit the signed agreement here. Or, hand it in at the Delta R501 Office.
Step3. Select the course in the Academic Information System. 

 

EECS3910 Special Topic on Implementation II
Step 1. Select the course in the Academic Information System during the course selection period.

 

 

SWITCHING TOPIC

Please talk with your advisor before switching the topic to the second implementation course.
EE3910/3920: Please follow the EE Implementation rules.
CS3901/3902: Please follow the CS Implementation rules.
EECS3900/3910: Please follow the EECS Implementation rules.

SWITCHING ADVISOR

It is strongly recommended that you talk to both the current and the future advisors before applying. If you need to switch advisors in the second implementation course, both present and new advisors must sign the consensus forms
EE3910/3920: Please follow the EE Implementation rules.
CS3901/3902: Please follow the CS Implementation rules.
EECS3900/3910:
1. Please come to the office and pick up your original agreement and consensus form.
2. Both present and new advisors must sign the consensus forms.
3. Submit the form back to the Detla R501 Office.
